I tried this last year , with a little experimenting  yes it will work
on the mill. The trick appears to be how much material to take out to
make it hollow when you take it apart and flip it around. once you
take it apart it does always line back up well if you decide to take
more of it out. I never did cut enough out and when I would flip the
pieces around my hole was almost non existent . I used large Crown
moulding bits (about 2 in, wide)
