Subject: Re: "Z" axis template follower

hey bill!...right now i have not worked how i might lock the router in
place...but i do not anticipate that being a big problem...i am not using a
split nut...i see just disconnecting the hand wheel assembly at the top of the
rails and the acme thread bracket at the bottom...it is just a process of
removing or loosening a few screws...the acme threaded block is just not in a
good location to think about messing with it....i definitely see using a handle
to control the router when doing template work on this axis...this is a must
and no way of getting around this...but a handle can control the up and down as
well as the in and out at the same time, with a bit of practice, of
course...and i am not sure i am understanding your first sentence, but this is
not a home made "Z" axis...this is legacy's carriage assembly with a few
modifications...i agree, the counter might go a long way to help absorb
vibrations as it will add 40 lbs. to the entire carriage assembly...an educated
guess is that the entire carriage( "Y" and "Z" axis') weighs about 100
lbs....and i do hope to make a video of this mod, as well as the others i have
done...thanks for the reply...joe
