Move the drive motor or there may be some slack in the motor to lead screw coupler sleeve. That will move it all down and give you the room to line up the two 45T gears

There is something wrong with My Wood chuck, because that is what I have tried doing. I am trying to contact the previous owner to see if he had done a reversing job. _If I first put a 45 on the leadscrew that is all that lines up with the 240._ To do a clockwise spiral the 60T that I am using to do it goes _hard up against the leadscrew end a_nd if I put a 45 on first that is all that will mesh. See Pics So------ 45on leadscrew 45 on reverse shaft followed , it looks like the leadscrew wants moving to the left but how
Cheers

    Hello Richard

The small reversing shaft uses the 45 tooth gear.

For right hand twist on the main lead screw I assemble the 45T
then the big washer, then the drive gear I will be using, 60T,
then another flat washer and then set it all tight with the Allen
    screw and washers or handle.

When you add the reversing shaft, it should have a 45T and a
sleeve. Leave the 45T in place and swap the sleeve over to the
lead screw and move everything except the 45T from the lead over
    to the reversing gear.

Now mesh the 2-45T gears together and tighten the 2 bracket screws
    on the reversing assembly.

Loosen the screw on the pivot arm that will allow the duplex gear
to swing away from the drive/reversing gear assembly.

Loosen the reversing gear pivot and swing the reversing gear
assembly down as far as it will go.

Adjust the duplex gear and tension it back into the drive gear and
you will be ready to go.

It is always better to make the reverse cut starting from the head
stock and cutting the tail stock direction.

    Hope this helps

    Mike OK

Hi All and especially Mike who has a wood chuck
I am stuck my head just won't work today.
I am doing a 6 inch spiral and want to turn it into a pineapple
    shape. i:e 240/40 on spindle and 240 driving a 60T
I have completed the clockwise part and am now stuck.
How do I set the gears for the anti-clockwise part???
What gears go on the leadscrew and what go on the lay / reverse
    shaft assembly?
    Thanks
    Richard
