Bruce,

Given that VE is not part of Legacy I think that Legacy records the 
co-ordinates of where the pin is placed, as it would should one set the 
latitude/longitude. Each time the Location List is entered, Legacy 
automatically looks for these co-ordinates and VE sets the pin, if there are no 
co-ordinates then it uses the location field to search.
