Joyce, To clarify, I was referring to the Search tab (on the top row on the task bar) not the Icon - if that is what you mean by "button". In any event you still have a problem.
I have seen a reference to this problem before but cannot remember the details, nor can I find them, and would suggest the following courses of action: 1. Try File>File Maintenance>Check/Repair (not optimistic but you never know) 2. Close Legacy, leave for a few minutes and restart 3. Shut the computer down and leave for 10 minutes then restart (always surprising how often (2) or (3) work 4. Go to your Legacy folder and delete Search.usr (Legacy will recreate it) 5. If I'd reached this point for myself with no luck, I would now lose my presence of mind and re-install!
