Carol, I do not know what you mean by "the pedigree numbering system", something I'm afraid I've never heard of. RINs are allocated in the order in which individuals are added to the database and I have mine set not to reuse epmty numbers. I have never changed a RIN and have no intention of doing so since the RINs are used as the file names for pedigree web pages which happen to be my main interest. In any event any order which might be set will soon be messed up as other names are added.
I think what you mean by muddled/duplicate numbers in the Index View is because you have it set to show alternate names and alternate married names, these have the same RIN as the main name for the individual, as they are one and the same persons.
