Carolyn, I have no idea where you may have read that, as the common adice is to use the location *at the time of the event*. If one wishes, today's location can be included in the notes. What you may have read is that the Geo-Location database only uses current locations. Regarding your specific points I would enter the location of the event as Hungary ( or whatever country the location was in at that that time) and enter in the notes: "now ....., Slovakia."Ron Ferguson _____________________________________________________________________ *New Tutorial* Publish your Web Pages - Blogshttp://www.fergys.co.uk View the Grimshaw Family Tree at: http://www.fergys.co.uk/Grimshaw/ For The Fergusons of N.W. Date: Mon, 17 Nov 2008 07:08:26 -0800From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: [LegacyUG] Historical shifting of national boundariesTo: [email protected] I have ancestors in my database [Legacy 7 (Deluxe)] that emigrated to the US from the Hungarian part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (now Slovakia). In entering data, I have read I should put the current location in the Location Field (that reflects where the vital records are now located) but would also like to keep the historical location, for that is the place from which they emigrated! How do I enter and save both locations for the same person/event in my Legacy program [e.g. Beszterczebanya, Zolyom, Hungary and Banska Bystrica, Slovakia] also noting which location is current and which location is historic? [This is also an issue in the US, e.g. West Virginia from Virginia.]Carolyn _________________________________________________________________ Win £1000 John Lewis shopping sprees with BigSnapSearch.com http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/117442309/direct/01/ Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
