As an added note, just because the political boundaries change, doesn't mean the location of the records change also. In the US, when a county line is moved, the records usually remain where they were originally recorded. This might be confusing in trying find the location, but knowing the name where/when the event occured may be more helpful than trying to keep track of later boundary changes. And, if your family has left that location, are you going to try to keep track of changes after they've left?

I have ancestors in my database [Legacy 7 (Deluxe)] that emigrated to the US from the Hungarian part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (now Slovakia). In entering data, I have read I should put the current location in the Location Field (that reflects where the vital records are now located) but would also like to keep the historical location, for that is the place from which they emigrated!

How do I enter and save both locations for the same person/event in my Legacy program [e.g. Beszterczebanya, Zolyom, Hungary and Banska Bystrica, Slovakia] also noting which location is current and which location is historic?

[This is also an issue in the US, e.g. West Virginia from Virginia.]
