Ross, It may be that if you change the setting for Break notes between Words may help (Customise), but I do not know. However, why are you using a GEDCOM? I do similar, but because I have a non-Legacy program on my lap-top. If I was using Legacy then I would just transfer my .fdb file - or the zip back-up if I wanted the settings.
