Perhaps you should add the number in quotes after the surname, as in Glasscock
"5". Legacy will argue with you about this but you can override the argument
and the Surnames will sort in lists by the number. I believe it will show up
on reports also.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Adding numbers to names

I have a book that I use as a source many times in my family history, the
author researched all of our family surname in a particular state from 1750 to
1860. He has a identifying number on each person. There are so many duplicate
names, I use this number often as I research this book and add information to
my Legacy file.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could add this number for the
corresponding person in my Legacy files? It would be so helpful if I could
see at a glance that I'm adding information on the correct person.

Thanks,

Syble Cline Glasscock
