Yeah, I agree with that also.  It would complicate things and make more
work for most people to have separate sources, I think.  Instead, where
there are different sources for the birth date and birth place, could
you simply indicate:

Source for Date
Source for Place

or whatever, as part of the detail?   I think that would be better than
adding a field that many people would consider not needed for most
