Michael,

I think I'd use a spreadsheet. I'd tag those I wanted in Legacy, search for the tag and then "Print" that search list to csv file which can be opened in a spreadsheet.
There's some good webinars on using Spreadsheets to help sort out issues.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Unlinking part of my tree

On my tree I have a direct line that I will call SMITH. Unfortunately within
this Smith group there are several called John (all born around the same
time) several called Michael (all born around the same time) etc many of
these being cousins or second cousins.

I have a feeling that I have put the wrong children with parents, and
therefore their children are connected incorrectly.

I've tried to look at each family grouping to see if I can sort it out but
it's difficult. I've got a John Smith born 1700 with son John Smith and
another one born 1710 with a son John Smith and still another one born say
1705.

I am thinking that my best bet would be to unlink the first Smith to link
into my tree, thereby hopefully unlinking them all. Then start attaching
them one by one back into the tree - but only when I have double checked
that I have the right person (although I thought that I had).

So I need to unlink my first Smith and all their connections, either by
blood or marriage from my main Coates file. Is this possible and if so how.

Or is there an easier solution?

Thank you

June
