Yes, Mike, my wife's computer was upgraded from Win7 to Win10 just this week, without her knowledge or permission. Just woke up one morning and the computer screen says, "Hi. We updated your PC". Her Documents path remained the same. But according to an email from Microsoft received this morning, hers, yours, and everybody's will be changing soon... just when that will happen is anyone's guess.
The bottom line is that is makes no difference to the user or to Legacy. And you are not "forced" to actually upload and synch your documents with the OneDrive in the cloud. Microsoft is merely making a uniform platform to enable all users to utilize the cloud storage for file collaboration and sharing if they so enable it. You have to remember that the OneDrive Documents folder is merely a folder on your PC which is your default file save location. The OneDrive in the cloud comes into play only if the user specifically uploads his OneDrive folder to the OneDrive cloud storage. So moving personal folders off the OneDrive folder on your PC does nothing unless you actually use the OneDrive app. But you and I probably agree that its good computing to move your personal data off the C:\ drive anyhow. -----Original Message----- From: LegacyUserGroup [mailto:legacyusergroup-boun...@legacyusers.com] On Behalf Of MikeFry Sent: Wednesday, May 25, 2016 2:07 PM To: legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] File locations on new installs On 25 May 2016 8:18 PM, Brian L. I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 and my Documents folder stayed exactly where it has always been - on the C: drive. There has been no evidence of any move towards using OneDrive. Adice to new Win 10 users: BEFORE installing ANYTHING, Move the Personal folders off of OneDrive. -- Regards, Mike Fry (Jhb) -- LegacyUserGroup mailing list LegacyUserGroup@legacyusers.com To manage your subscription and unsubscribe http://legacyusers.com/mailman/listinfo/legacyusergroup_legacyusers.com Archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/
