Roxanne, You may be thinking of "Tablet" PC's. Microsoft is really pushing them but so far the response has been luke warm. They are roughly the size of a laptop. Some actually have keyboards and are very laptop like and some are just the "screen". Both types accept pen input directly on the screen similar to the PocketPC devices. This is the "selling" point of the devices... no need to use a "pesky" and "unnatural" keyboard, just write on the screen. I've not personally used one but don't think that I would want to use pen input as my sole means of data entry. (Hence some of them come with keyboards just like a laptop)
One other downside to the Tablet PC's, they are expensive. If you are looking for a Windows CE device that is bigger than the PocketPC's but smaller than a laptop, then you might consider the NEC MobilePro 790. It is like a baby laptop (half-VGA screen - 8.1" diagonal) and a keyboard that is close to full size but weighs under 2 pounds. It is however about $900. Also keep in mind that it runs Windows CE software only, not "regular" windows software like you would have on your desktop. Here is a Adobe Acrobat datasheet that has a photo and specifications. http://www.neccomp.com/images/pdfs/MP790.pdf HP has a similar model (the 720) that is smaller but you'd have to have REALLY small hands in order to effectively touch type on the keyboard. It is also about $900.
