Something to consider no matter what type, size, device you may be interested in - how will your get edited data back into your MAIN data base in Legacy???

Some actually have keyboards and are very laptop like and some are > just the "screen". The "Tablet PC is very new. Lots on unknowns as to reliability, compatibility with Windows xxx versions. > If you are looking for a Windows CE device that is bigger than the > PocketPC's but smaller than a laptop, Snip . . . > you might consider the NEC MobilePro 790. It is like a baby laptop (half-VGA screen >- 8.1" diagonal)and a keyboard that is close to full size but weighs under 2 pounds. Snip . . . > Also keep in mind that it runs Windows CE software > only, not "regular" windows software like you would have on your desktop. Here again is the compatibility issue. Now here is my opinion. Get a good quality PDA. My wife and I each have a Handspring model. On that we have "GEDSTAR", a Palm OS type program that uses a Legacy generated GEDCOM file. GEDSTAR only has "read" capability and that is good, in my opinion. You have all the data at your fingertips for research and new data can be entered as memos which then forces you to enter the data into your "one and only LEGACY data base". Yes, from any memo in the PDA you can paste the data into LEGACY once you have updated your desktop PDA program, a simple synchronization procedure. My wife made excellent use of her "small" PDA in Salt Lake recently. Besides carrying books, pads of paper, and more, the PDA fits into practically any pocket when on a research trip. Your requirements may be different, just my thoughts. Herb.
