Ed,

You can run your .FDB file from the flash drives, but not Legacy itself.
Some Family History Center's have Legacy installed and the rest of them can
install it. If your FHC doesn't have it, they can install it and you will
have access to your information.

I do this all the time. Our local FHC's have Legacy Deluxe on all the
computers.

I also keep a copy of the most current install file of Legacy so I can
install the standard version on family computers when I visit. This way I
can get them interested in genealogy as well.

If you have any other questions about Legacy & Flash Drives feel free to
contact me off list.

Glen

Subject: [LegacyUG] Running legacy from flash drive / jump drive?

I just bought a USB memory stick (called a flash drive or jump drive, has
256 MB
capacity) down at Best Buy. I bought it so that I have a way to store
microfilm or book images from my trips to the library and Family History
Center.

But I got to thinking...

Is it feasible to install a copy of legacy on the flash drive, and use it on
the library or Family History Center computer? If so, I can have access to
my whole database while I'm doing research! But... I don't know if legacy
updates the registry or whatever. CAN I do an install to the flash drive,
give that copy my deluxe customer number, and carry all I need from computer
to computer?
