Brian,

The current version of TreeDraw Legacy works just fine with Legacy v6. If
you select to include pictures when you import, they should automatically be
placed in the tree.

I'll let the users relate their experiences for the rest of the questions.

Thanks for using Legacy.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Treedraw for Legacy Questions

Hi Listers,

My family is planning a reunion for next summer. I just attended a reunion
of my paternal branch where they had used Treedraw for Legacy to build a
huge wall chart complete with pictures. I am considering doing the same but
after visiting the site I have a few questions.

1. I get the impression that the import of pictures is a manual process, I
had hoped that Treedraw would handle that for those pictures I have linked
to individuals in my file. Is my impression correct or can Treedraw automate
the picture import?

2. With the impending release of Legacy 6 should I wait until I have
purchased Legacy 6 and Treedraw has been updated to work with it? I would
hate to buy it now then have to pay again to get the update. I'm assuming of
course that Treedraw will be updated for Version 6 of Legacy.

3. I also looked at the Legacy Charting Companion but it does not seem able
to produce a horizontal layout of the descendant chart so I have rejected
that option. My reunion will be the descendants of the six children of my
maternal grandparents so a horizontal format is essential to keep the chart
shallow enough to fit. I know it can be done in Treedraw because that was
the layout at the reunion I recently attended. Does anyone have experience
with Charting Companion? Will it produce a horizontal chart even though none
is shown on the web site examples?

4. We have a little bit of information on the parents of both my
grandparents so I would like to include that to make an hourglass style tree
with both my grandparents as the centre. I think I should be able to
customize the tree by adding them afterwards using Treedraw if it will not
automatically generate an hourglass tree based on a couple. Has anyone done
that? How difficult is the process?

Any other comments from users of Treedraw on their good and bad experiences
are welcome too.
