An excellent question Keith. Haven't read far enough into the
digest from a couple of days ago to see if/what the answer is.
But it seems to me that there is a more fundamental question.
Why does the file format change on a maintenance update?
With all the other software I've ever worked with, changing the
file format is regarded as a major change to the software, so that
changing the format is never done with upgrades or even point
releases. Only on Major new revisions, such as when M'soft
Word goes from Word 2000 to Word 2003.
