JimS, No, other than a sequential number and a description that has enough content to tell me what the document is, I don't use any other system. I don't worry if I have duplicate documents for an individual because I have two ways to find that out. I use MSN's desktop search and it will find and show in a preview pane any documents that meet my search criteria. Second, and fastest, is Legacy information about a person. If I start to add a source to an individual, I can check any other document listed for the individual to see which covers the event best. I started out with thousands of documents and quickly figured out that any system that takes more time to add a document than I spent researching the document is probably not the best approach. The potential fault in my way of doing things is that I may someday lose the computer capability to retrieve documents. I try to keep up to date to guard against that.
