Jon, I noticed the comment and so I uninstalled V5 on my laptop (running Windows ME). When I installed V6 I had lost ALL my settings.
So when I installed it on my desktop (running XP SP2) I decided to try to install it without uninstalling V5 first. (I knew that if all else failed I could uninstall and clear out registry settings etc and then install again.) It worked fine. Everything was just as I had it set up in V5 - so a very happy bunny. It would be nice to know what the risk is of just installing the new version without uninstalling the old copy. But it seems to be fine Jack -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 09 September 2005 19:16 To: [email protected] Subject: [LegacyUG] Uninstall earlier versions first? Did anyone else notice the recommendation to uninstall earlier versions before installing v6? This statement is found on Legacy's web site: "Please uninstall any older versions of Legacy before installing Legacy 6.0. If an earlier version is present and you don't uninstall it first, it may remain in the system registry. If you remove an earlier version of Legacy after installing Legacy 6.0, Legacy 6.0 may not work and you will need to reinstall it to fix the problem." Does this apply to all earlier versions, including v5.xx? Perhaps tech support can elaborate? What if a user wants to keep v5 installed as a backup to v6?
