Alice,
Ancestry gets a lot of information from RootsWeb. I find that my data
has appeared there without my consent. I believe it's a condition of
placing your file on RootsWeb. So I'm sure that if it works to place
"deceased" in your files, and they work on Ancestry, it should work on
RootsWeb. I have seen data marked as "deceased" on RootsWeb.

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Problem with marking individuals as "dead"

Mary,
I used to have my file online at Ancestry.com That's how I found out
the hard way what Deidrich discovered. I don't know if it will work at
RootsWeb, but it worked with Ancestry Family Tree or whatever it was
called back then. To this day I still fil in the Died field with Dead.
If Diedrich has any doubts, perhaps he could read the fine print at
RootsWeb.

In any case, it's 60 thousand mouse clicks, so Diedrich had better get
started! < grin > -- Alice

This is about the best I can think of, too, but I'm wondering if this
will be recognized by Rootsweb as an indication of the person being
deceased and keep their software from marking them as living?
