Barbara, If you have your own two computers you can install a copy of Legacy on each, and then keep your data on the external drive. Set the file paths in both copies of Legacy to point to the external drive.
It would be helpful to have Legacy installed on the drive itself if you want to use it with someone else's computer, for example in a library.
