I have played around with installing programs on my thumb drive. 
Genviewer works great.  I installed several other programs which
ported fairly easily to Linux.  RootsMagic installed easily and
generally runs OK although opening various windows is slower.  I think
Legacy would be a stretch because of its installed size.  Legacy also
uses Windows embedded dlls and, of course, MS Access.  I do plan to
play around to see if I can make it work but my instinct says that it
even if it runs it might not be acceptable to most of us.
