Guido,

Yes it's not easy to overcome, so for now I'm content to simply have the
whole name capitalized. My father in law and other Dutch born Australian
friends were talking about surnames and positions in telephone books and
other listings.

In The Netherlands de Melker would apparently appear in the M section
immediately adjacent to the van de Melker and van der Melker entries yet
here the 3 names would appear in the "D" and "V" sections - possibly without
spacing.

A Canadian ancestor of mine also has a Dutch influence with her surname of
Vannorman or is it Van Norman? But as she married into the family there are
only 2 entries in my tree - her and her father - but a cousin of mine is not
only doing the Rylotts but the Van Normans. But I'm drifting off the
software theme into the tree aspects.

Suffice to say I've already had several challenges when trying to encode new
entries or locate existing people recorded in the tree with "compound"
names. (This is to bring it back to a legacy theme) As a suggestion is there
any way we can "flag the name to produce the entry in individual information
screens or names lists to point out that alternative spellings exist (I also
have multiple spellings of the RYLOTT name even within the same original
household!)
