Mary:

dates as 4/8/2006, April 8, 2006, Apr 8 2006, etc.

If you enter Feb 3, 1750/51 it saves it as 51.  I just
tried, and it will accept 1750/1 as a literal.  In
other words, it won't change it to February if you
have selected full month name.

In my test, I entered this date as a baptismal date
for someone born in 1862.  the 1750/1 format didn't
object to the bap date earlier than the birth date,
but the 1751 date did.
