Sherry:
I am sending this letter out again with a few changes .
Sorry, I was wrong, the .ocx files are not in c:Legacy/Data. They are with
my backup Zip Files in C:Legacy/Backup, not in Data. When I hit "Bakup
Family
Files" no backup files show. They do appear in C:Legacy/Backup when I bring
up Windows Explorer.

Where should the Zip backup files be? In C:Legacy/Data or in a separate
folder in C:Legacy/Data. I used to have my Data Files in My Documents, but
changed it back to the way it was originally set up when I started having
this problem.

The .ocx files may have been created when I imported PAF 3 data files
into Legacy. I did this while using Windows 98, and my main datbase works
fine in
that old computer, but it also has .ocx files in Backup.

I have the problem with Notes in Windows XP where I am using my main
Legacy database that I have been using since Legacy 3,4,5 in my old
computer, and all last year, 2005, with Legacy 5 with XP in my new computer
with no such problems.

I have learned that the problem does not happen when I open the main
database called all.legacy.fdb from the Open Family File until I go into the
Notes of my sixth great grandfather. Then notes will not open, just crashes
Legacy. When I open Legacy after the crash, the notes have problems on
assorted people. My husband's notes open; then it comes up with the problem
scenario in my earler message and closes Legacy when I hit the close button
on the Problem screen which is the only alternative. If I open the
all-legacy database after it crashes, then hit Close Family File, and reopen
it with Open Family File, the collapse does not happen on any other
individual unil I reach my sixth great grandfather.
Then it crashes with no warning that it is going to crash Legacy.

I have now tried the work databases which I transferred from Windows 98
this February 2006. I had no problems. On my old Windows 98 PC, I have no
problems with Notes for my sixth great grandfather in my main database.

That is the history. I hope it is not too confusing. I would appreciate
it if someone with the 258 update of Legacy 5 would try out the notes on a
sixth great grandfather. Maybe in Legacy 6, too. Thank you.

In hope that this can be straightened out.
      Winifred
