As far as I know (AFAIK) *no* .OCX files should be in Data. How did they
get there? Which ones are there?

To answer your other questions, it really doesn't matter where you put
your data and backup files (and this would have nothing to do with your
problem). I have a Legacy\Data folder in MyDocuments where I keep my
working data files. And a Legacy\Data\Backup folder in MyDocuments for
my backups. But everyone has their own preferences.
