Here I am again with another question. I could not find the answer in the
help file.
When I get all my photos sorted properly into their own folders will Legacy
be able to find them within different sub-directories or should I have all
of them in one directory?
Thanks
Myrna
Myrna,
For each sub directory, you will need an entry in the Multimedia Locations
list. I have found it much easier to simplify my scheme by using the
following naming convention for all multimedia files:
Lastname-Firstname-YOBeventtype.jpg
Jones-John-1886bc.jpg (The bc after the year is the event type birth
certificate.)
I use the following event types for my images.
bc = birth certificate
bap = baptismal certificate
bp = baptismal program
mc = marriage certificate
ml = marriage licence
bl = blessing certificate
dc = death certificate
gs = grave stone photo
a-z = general photo
I also use a number after each of these if I have multiple images for them.
If you have multiple birth certificates (a re-issuance of a certificate)
you would have files like this:
Jones-John-1886bc.jpg
Jones-John-1886bc1.jpg
CAUTION: Using my naming convention would require re-naming your images.
You would then have to unlink and relink the file.
This system works for me, but might not for you.
