So in other wods if someone is born 6 May 1900 the Q date would be 06 05 02 1900 --- or would it be just 05 02 1900?
or would it be 5 2 1900?

Thanks for the explanation, Brian.

Pat

Patricia,

Q Date is a shorthand for Quarter Dates. In the British BMD Indexes the entires are reported under the calendar Quarter when the birth marriage or Death was registered. The Q dates are Mar Q xxxx, for all BMD entries in Jan, Feb and Mar, Jun Q xxxx for Apr to Jun etc. many Legacy Users who use the British BMD Indexes wanted a way to record the Quarter of Registration so we added this special date format to accommodate them.

I guess I'm really out of it, but I don't know what you mean by the term 'Q dates.' I never saw it before!
