Afraid you have it wrong Pat. The British records office uses 4 quarters Jan-Mar; Apr-Jun; Jul-Sep; and Oct-Dec. The last month of each quarter is used to identify the quarter thus the Q dates are Mar; Jun; Sep and Dec each followed by the year. It should also be noted that these are the dates the event was registered and *not* the date of the event and given that 6 weeks is allowed to register the event it is quite possible that an event can be registered in the quarter after the event happened.

Usually one can be reasonably certain that marriages and deaths actually did take place within the same quarter as the registration but this is not the case with births.

All quite staightforward really!!! (In a British sort of way)

Ron Ferguson

So in other wods if someone is born 6 May 1900 the Q date would be 06 05 02 1900 --- or would it be just 05 02 1900?
or would it be 5 2 1900?

Thanks for the explanation, Brian.
