thousands of users do read, there are some (I dare to say much more) who 
don't. 

What I have noticed is that it becomes more and more common for software 
projects to have a few video tutorials on youtube "How to install .... on 
(Windows/Linux/Mac)". This year I have watched several such videos to find 
out how to install some packages. We must admit that at least for some 
users, it is easier to watch video than to read docs.
