Does W2000 have a utility like MSCONFIG in W98? I've used that a lot to
disable all the many applications that insist on setting themselves to load
at boot. You end up with dozens of little icons in the system tray on the
right end of the status bar that suck the life out of the system resources.

Though you're no doubt talking about "services" that W2000 installs that
aren't needed, right? If W2000 has something similar to MSCONFIG, I wonder
if those services would be in there, and easily disabled.

Also, there must be a place in W2000 where the system resources are
displayed immediately following a boot to the desktop. IN W98, you can
right click My Computer, and go to the Performance tab.

With W98 on the L70, I like to keep EVERYTHING from being booted except
explorer, systray, and the sound driver. Anything above 90% system
resources after full boot is great. I usually run at 95%. Would think it
would be a similar process getting W2000 to run on a L100.

Matt
