I used to have a single red stripe of pixels down the left side of my 
screen ... then it'd start blinking yellow if I pressed the area of the screen 
just to the left of the mouse pointer. Then it was joined by another red 
stripe, then it turned white ... I think I've got a loose/broken connection 
somewhere (I dissected the screen once and tried looking for loose connectors 
but couldn't find anything loose, twiddling stuff around didn't make the 
stripes go away) ... I've just gotten used to ignoring them now ...
