Well the distance between the pin and the spring needs to push out to be equal to the difference between the outer and inner radii of the barrel connector ... the 6.5mm barrel is slightly thicker so in its default tstate it might get a little hard to push in, that's all ... having said that, if you don't bend it (and just push hard), it'll hold the connector in more tightly ...

The L100/110 power connector has 2 pins and the connector is keyed by having a 'bump' on one of the flat sides ... the bit of plastic is just there to provide that 'bump' (so it won't plug in the wrong way).
Okay... Thanks for clearing these points up for me Raymond. I was thinking it may be cheaper to try finding a power cord with a connector as you describe that can be modified to fit the 100/110s. But it may be quicker and easiler at the moment to foot the $14 for the cord/connecter from Digi-Key. After all the discussion about dimensions for the 50/70 power plugs, I came to an incredibly embarassing revelation... I'll report back on that later through.
P.S. Is it just me or is the list server running slow? I posted my first reply to this post 1.5 days before I got it back from the list!
In case you didn't catch my comment on this in my last flood of posts, it seems the list server locked up for around 24 hours over the weekend. None of those 4-5 posts of mine had come back to me 24 hours later, so I sent Dan notice. Either he tweaked his problem with SPAM clogging up the server, or the server fixed itself. I didn't hear back from him.
Matt
