I might be able to help Dan. I'm really only at about a low intermediate
level when it comes to these sorts of things. But I'm certainly willing to
lend a hand Dan.

Hi all,
I am monitoring them all now.. Seems like it is happy for now..
I am on a few Yahoo groups and yes.. spam is a big problem on those. The
web based ones seem much easier for the bogus accounts to find and spam.
As long as I can find a way to keep this running smoothly I have no
problems keeping it going as it is. For now the last fix seems to have
gotten thru some of the junk that was clogging it up. I would like to
setup a system so that a few others can help out when I do not notice
things getting stuck.
I am not sure that I can get the system setup before I leave for Japan but
I will continue to monitor the system when I am there. Matt has been great
to let me know when things get stuck. If people who want to help out can
let me know I will let those know when the system is ready.
Thanks for everyone's support over the years.

Have you been in direct email contact with Dan David? He might be
monitoring the list now, what with the recent problems. He might miss
your post. I don't think he checks the messages here on a regular basis.
That seems to be a duty I've sort of taken on in the past 2-3 years,
and get to Dan when the server get's hung up. He's been kicking it in
the side each time, and has been meaning to set up new software. But
like me probably, as long as the old dog keeps trotting forward after a
fresh 'bowl of doggy chow'... it's easy to put off the more major task of
setting up a whole new software installation.

That's also something, along with Yahoo and other web-based group
options
that have come up in the past as well. The only thing with a web- based
group
is that it doesn't allow non-web-based users access, and has the
limitations of
such (hard to archive messages you receive, of interest, etc.).
The other problem lies with the access to the postings. It's
very/extremely
difficult to migrate a web-based group to another site because usually ,
they
do not allow full access to the entire mailing list archive database,
but
rather one message at a time.
If indeed Google dropped/changed/etc the terms and/or service, then
what?
