Non-cardbus cards don't have that little gold band around the bottom of
the card.
I don't think that's always going to be a definate means of identifying the
difference between cardbus and non-cardbus PC cards.
Thinning out my inbox, I spotted the line above in a reply I'd written. I
must have written that before I remembered Raymond's post on how to tell the
difference between a cardbus card and a non-cardbus card, and neglected to
delete the line above or modify it, as Raymond's method seems pretty
definative.
Here's a link to Raymond's drawing of the edges of the cardbus and
non-cardbus cards. I'm pretty sure it's the most reliable way of spotting
the right one (non-cardbus) when you see it Jack:
