 From my pov we want to solve this by making it easy to build against
both libusbx-1.0 and libusbx-2.0 for a while. I'll be maintaining a porting
guide on the wiki, and I expect it to be pretty short and simple.

You can then even build against 1.0.x on Linux and 2.0.x on Windows for
a while.

Also I'll be maintaining the 1.0.x series for a while, but you should not
expect many new features, like WinUSB independence to land there.
