Hello,

I also steward local trails. I find bags (as you have described, Julia and
Collette) often and carry those out along with often (daily even!) picking-up
dog waste left behind. Most of the trail walkers I meet and greet are amenable
to picking up/carrying out waste, though sometimes this action is only seen as
necessary when the waste is close to or along the trail. I also imagine if the
dogs are exploring ahead of or behind their people, some waste may be missed.
At the least, the dog waste is a public health concern. With the volume of dogs
and their humans enjoying the trails, hopefully more regular trail walkers and
occasional visitors will consider the request to clean up after their pet and
carry out the waste. The signs LLCT and the Conservation staff placed before
the winter are no longer around; hopefully those helped spread the word for
best practices.
