There are “speed bumps” and “speed tables”. Speed bumps are indeed noisy. Speed tables are low and flat and thus much easier on suspensions and ears. I don’t believe anyone is proposing speed bumps rather than speed tables.

Formal roadway documentation tends to distinguish between “highway” and city/urban rather than urban and country.
