Just tried it now from the terminal (I pine my mail baby) and it works asI wonder if it's not related to the clipping services X has -- you can hilite a block of text and drag it to your desktop, like with previous versions of the OS, but it seems to work sporadically at best. For instance Safari doesn't seem to support it!

Word-centric.
I seem to recall there was a Word setting for "include formatted text in clipboard" -- maybe toggling that would make a difference?
Or it could just be an artifact of the lame ass way MS implements its own RTF.
