Acknowledgements usually go in the "Author Note" at the front of a document: https://blog.apastyle.org/apastyle/2015/11/giving-thanks-in-apa-style.html

If there was someone listed as a "tutor" in the acknowledgements, and they were not someone appointed by the institution, or in some way accredited, I would ask the student exactly who they were, and what help they provided. The student might have to then undertake some supplementary assessment, to show what they, as opposed to their tutor, could do.
