6.0.x CE had been out, but apparantly, still had bugs to iron out. Can't speak 
for Belledonne, can't say what's causing this or how the friends list is 
supposed to work, BUT FWIW, previous releases are at 
https://download.linphone.org/releases/linux/app/ if you want to roll back and 
find the last working state for you.

Going through the changelog if such a thing exists, or the sources, at github, 
might result in further enlightenment, but that won't be me :P

Distro provided pkgs would be a different can of worms, but the same concepts 
apply IMO, find fix, or roll back & work from there.
