I'm not sure that would need to be the case. It might be as easy as including the dasd_fba_mod in the initrd and access the iso image through emulated I/O as a 3370 device. This was much faster than install via FTP. Unfortunately I could not get the P/390 AWSFBA driver to use the CD directly, so I'm afraid that will also apply to the MP3000.
