Again, for me the key to figuring things out is to do them manually so that
responses to the commands are not hidden by the installation scripts. So,
from your system console (HMC) try this:
1. ifconfig -a This command should show you your eth0 and lo devices. If
not, the LCS module didn't load.
2. ifconfig eth0 205.213.113.123 netmask 255.255.255.0 up - This should
result in no messages at all. If it does, report them back here.
3. route add default gw 205.213.113.254 netmask 0.0.0.0 - Again, this
should
result in no messages.
4. ping -c 3 205.213.113.254 - to see if you can reach your gateway.
5. ping -c 3 some.other.ip.addr - to see if you can get beyond your
gateway.
