I just completed the SLES8 install last week.
I know both the install guide and the readme were inaccurate....I had to
feel my way thru the install abit.

I followed the readme for disk formatting,
but I'm pretty sure I still used YAST2 to partiion and to set the
mountpoints.

What do these commands show before you start the actual rpm installs.

cat /proc/dasd/devices
mount
df -k

It comes back and says something like auto partition selection
not possible, select them manually. So after the 40 min. scan
of software I clicked on the partition link and selected
SWAP on the small one and /usr on one of the others and /
on another. I've tried so many combinations and have yet
to find one that works. I may try it again without the
swap disk - but I don't have much hope!

Also, the AUTOINSTALL parm stuff is pretty cool- making these
many attempts much easier, but I haven't been able to get it to
pick up 3 parameters from the parm file: SAMBAUSER, SAMBAPASSWORD,
and WORKDOMAIN. Maybe they are something different (they
came from the readme not the install guide).

We've got a support contract and I'm sending these questions
to SuSE too, but I thought someone else might have already
run into these things and could help me out faster!
