Heads up for another Linux piece. Computer Weekly called me at VERY short notice and asked me for an opinion piece to front this week's Storage Special Feature. 800 words in a morning - with other things (!) going on as well?
It's not as well polished or structured as I would like - almost a "stream of consciousness". But it's supposed to be about storage and kept on drifting back to Linux - so I let it. The background thought was a combination of the launch of two major DASD subsystems this week from EMC and IBM, both using proprietary operating systems. IBM's Shark, of course, is based on AIX - which Steve Mills of IBM intimated would not be IBM's future strategic direction. Anyway, it set me thinking. Publication on Thursday in Computer Weekly. -- Phil Payne http://www.isham-research.com +44 7785 302 803 +49 173 6242039
