Since PAV is OCO (like the qeth driver), then it would need to be some sort
of installable kernel module. Perhaps with "hooks" from the standard ECKD
dasd driver. In fact, all of the "new and nifty" hardware from IBM is
protected in this way, as best as I can tell. Under MVS, PAV is under the
control of WLM to determine when to create a new alias address to a given
base address and then take it back later. I guess under Linux, a DASD I/O
monitor in userspace (or kernelspace) would work, or just leave it up to the
sysadmin.
