Steven: GPFS is NOT supported on Linux on zSeries. You can turn off MDC by volume, but Linux is still going to be caching (not sure if you can turn this off by volume, or if it would even help). http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/clusters/software/gpfs.html > What about the Lustre File System? GFS*? Others I don't know > about? Red Hat (Sistina) GFS was at one time announced to support Linux on zSeries in 2003Q4, but it appears to never have happened. I have asked Red Hat for an update. Red Hat released GFS under the GPL on June 24. You may wish to see if you can build this on zSeries. http://sources.redhat.com/cluster/gfs/ Jim ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
