GPFS doesn't work on Linux on 390 or Z, and Lustre doesn't give you much coordination between servers (there's still individual caching going on in the servers), so it doesn't really help much. AFAIK, Sistina GFS development stopped on 390 with the RH aquisition -- we haven't seen much activity from them at all recently. OpenAFS would be an option, as would NFS.
