VTL managed by CA's VM:tape on VM plus a little REXX glue on the VM side to talk to an extended version of mt on Linux. The supplied Linux tools for tape management in the distributions frankly suck, particularly for channel-attached tape, and are practically non-existant for FCP tape. You're also going to want to do a Linux-based internal-network based solution to a designated backup server that you can shut down at will and take image backups rather than doing backups on individual servers. The REXX glue plus the extensions to mt I'm referring to above are available in the Bacula contributed software source tree. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@vm.marist.edu with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For more information on Linux on System z, visit http://wiki.linuxvm.org/
